Opportunities in the Oil Industry

The oil and gas industry is so vast, there are countless job opportunities available in it. Jobs in the oil industry are particularly popular because of the present high price of oil, as well as the numerous benefits that come with the job. There are, however, other jobs than oil drilling that still qualify as oil careers, and they can be just as lucrative.

Jobs in the Oil and Gas Industry

Though there are the obvious few that always seem to come to mind, there really are many jobs in the oil industry that tend to slip our minds. The most popular of these jobs is petroleum engineering. And of course, there are the jobs associated with oil rigs, which include roughnecks, roustabouts, rotary drillers, mud engineers, and toolpushers. They may sound like schoolyard insults, but they are indeed lucrative careers. There are also pipeline jobs, and they include pipeline walkers, pipeline design engineers, and welders. The jobs that involve more chemistry are refinery jobs, which include petrochemical engineers, chemical engineers, gaugers, and pump system operators. A lot of the industry also depends on the oil rigs located I the gulf of Mexico.
